The Knox County Housing Authority is now conducting competitive solicitations on an internet-based system. Remove portion of concrete balcony, steel supports and railings, and brick masonry, and install new at seven (7) buildings. Proposals shall be submitted to the office of the Owner via mail, hand delivery, or e-mail (clefler@knoxhousing.org) using the proposal form on the bidder's letterhead on or before the date and time established above. SCOPE OF WORK Proposals are desired for a single, lump sum General Construction contract which shall include all work related to the following: Remove portion of concrete balcony, steel supports and railings, and brick masonry, and install new at seven (7) buildings. All principal subcontractors are strongly encouraged to visit the site(s) to review the scope of work. Interested parties are to call the office of the Architect (574-288-2052) to confirm attendance. MBE (10%), WBE (6.9%) 1.shore balcony structure as required. install sidewalk and pedestarian protection at hazardous locations. install "safe passage" to ground floor unit entrance for ground floor tenant for the duration of the work. 2. remove brick at stair tower and building corner as required to facilitate removal of existing balcony and framing and installation of new brick pier, balcony slab and structural components. additionally, repair and tuckpoint sections of cracked and/or bowed brick at wall corner and stair tower. salvage brick in good condition for reuse. 3. saw cut and remove steel and concrete deck sections as shown. cut as close to wall as possible. leave edges square and clean for attachment to new concrete. 4. construct new reinforced brick piers. 5. install new steel structural members, rods and bearing plates as shown. 6. install new steel decking and end dams. 7. install new concrete slab w/ steel reinforcement as shown. dowel new slab into existing. install expansion material and sealant (3 sides). 8. install new steel railing. 9. repair bowed, cracked and/or damaged brick. utilize salvaged brick to the greatest extent feasable.
