Site work and paving for a road / highway in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
This project will extend Leigh Avenue across the "horseshoe" from Cliff Drive towards Southside High School (See page 28). The property owner has agreed to petition the Board of Directors for the abandonment of the right of way for the approximately 3,300 foot long "horseshoe" section of Leigh Avenue, which will then become a private street. The property owner has also agreed to donate the right of way for the new street extension and allow for disposal of the excess shale on their property. An agreement with the property owner regarding the right of way abandonment, street extension and shale disposal will be forth coming to the Board of Directors. This project is in included in the City of Fort Smith's FY 2022-2026 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of February 25, 2022, information regarding a design team or a general contractor is not available. Funding is anticipated in 2022 and 2023.* *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
