Bidding is expected to take place in February of 2024 and construction is estimated to take place in summer of 2024. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The City of East Grand Rapids is commencing improvements to community playground sites due to a successful Parks Improvement Millage in November of 2021. Millage proceeds will provide funding for multiple park improvement projects within the City as well as the full replacement of playgrounds on East Grand Rapids Public School sites within the City of East Grand Rapids. The first phase of improvements will be replacing playground structures at three elementary school sites listed below. Site 1: Wealthy Elementary School- 1961 Lake Dr SE, East Grand Rapids, MI 49506 Site 2: Lakeside Elementary School- 2325 Hall St SE, East Grand Rapids, MI 49506 Site 3: Breton Downs Elementary School- 2500 Boston St SE, East Grand Rapids, MI 49506 The City of East Grand Rapids is seeking proposals from consultants such as Landscape Architectural firms or other qualified firms to assist the City of East Grand Rapids with the replacement of community playgrounds. The objective, upon completion of a thorough public engagement and site design process, is to develop construction documents ready for bidding and construction, for each playground site outlined in this proposal. The selected firm will also assist in the review of all bids received and will provide a recommendation of a preferred vendor to perform the supply and installation of playground equipment. The City is planning on two rounds of public engagement meetings with two meetings for each round of public input. The first round of public input will include two public meetings in May for initial contact and discussion of potential playground amenities with the community. The second round of meetings will be in August/September for a final presentation of the design improvements and buy-in from the community. The City of East Grand Rapids has also identified multiple other park improvement projects that are scheduled for the next three years as outlined in the 2020 East Grand Rapids Community Parks and Recreation Master Plan. Section 8 of the plan is attached to this document for reference only. The City may add additional design services to the scope of work to the consultant selected for this initial phase of work. Each playground site is unique with varying spaces available for playground amenities as well as varying age levels of play.
