Site work and new construction of a warehouse / distribution facility in Bloomington, Minnesota. Design plans call for the construction of a 40,000-square-foot warehouse / distribution facility.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Bloomington, Minnesota (the “City”) will meet on Monday, August 25, 2025, at or after 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Bloomington Civic Plaza, 1800 West Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington, Minnesota 55431 and by electronic means as provided by state law, to conduct a public hearing concerning approval of an amendment to the Combined Ten-Year Capital Improvement Plan, 2025-2034 (the “Amended Plan”), and the issuance of general obligation bonds thereunder (the “Bonds”), to provide for the undertaking of certain capital improvements, including but not limited to fire stations in the City, the construction of a new equipment maintenance garage (which includes the new fleet garage), and the construction of a new public works materials storage shed (collectively, the “Improvements”). The maximum principal amount of the Bonds that may be issued under the Amended Plan for the Improvements is $102,942,174, plus any premium offered on the Bonds. The Bonds may be issued in calendar year 2025 and in additional calendar years. If a petition requesting a vote on the issuance of the Bonds, signed by voters equal to five percent (5%) of the votes cast in the City in the last municipal general election, is filed with the City Clerk within 30 days after the public hearing, the City may issue the Bonds only after obtaining approval of a majority of voters voting on the question at an election. A copy of the Amended Plan is available for inspection in the City Clerk’s office at the Bloomington Civic Plaza and is also available on the City’s website – www.blm.mn/CIP. At the time and place fixed for the public hearing, the City Council will give all persons who appear at the hearing (in person or electronically) an opportunity to express their views with respect to the proposal. Written comments shall be considered if submitted to the Chief Financial Officer at Bloomington Civic Plaza, 1800 West Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington, Minnesota 55431, on or before the date of the public hearing. Planned to have a useful life of 35 years, the garage will cover approximately 40,000 square feet. The facility will include a central warehouse, a parts room, lockers and restrooms. The expanded building will have enough capacity to handle the city’s fleet vehicles and workload while removing constraints on technology and safety improvements. This project is currently in the FY 2025-2034 CIP. As of June 12, 2025, project status is in planning stage. Cost estimates will determine path forward; analysis to take place Q2. Architect selected.
