The intent of this contract is to provide for facility repair consisting of, but not limited to: selective demolition of a heating system, electrical system, and fuel oil delivery system; electric heat pump installation; electric radiant heater installation; and ventilation system installation at the USDA Forest Service office building in Wrangell, Alaska. Estimated project value is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. The intent of this contract is to provide for facility repair consisting of, but not limited to: selective demolition of a heating system, electrical system, and fuel oil delivery system; electric heat pump installation; electric radiant heater installation; and ventilation system installation at the USDA Forest Service office building in Wrangell, Alaska. Base item work includes replacing the office's oil-fired boiler and hydronic heating system with electric heat pumps and electric radiant heaters, which includes: o Demolition and removal of existing oil-fired boiler, chimney, expansion tank, pumps, piping, heating units, valves, controls, fuel oil tank, fuel oil piping, supports, containments, and electrical service panelboard and branch circuiting o Patching and repair of walls, ceiling, floors, and roof where existing heating system is removed o Provision of multi-zone heat pump system consisting of outdoor units, foundations for outdoor units, indoor units, refrigerant piping, condensate piping, controls, and chases for refrigerant piping o Provision of electric radiant heaters and controls o Provision of new electrical service including meter center, meters, circuit breakers, panelboard, panelboard feeders, surge protective device for panelboard, branch circuiting to new heat pump and radiant heaters, disconnects, and service light and outlet Retain and reuse the existing electrical service conductors from the utility transformer to the building service entrance. Option item work includes installation of an office ventilation system, which includes o Relocating a sprinkler header and service sink. o Removal then reconstruction of the exterior wall to install the heat recovery unit. o Provision of a ventilation system consisting of heat recovery unit, louvers, o dampers, ductwork, diffusers, grilles and controls. o Design and provision of structural reinforcement of the existing floor to support the heat recover unit.
