A rapid increase in the student population has put strain on limited academic space and forecasts for the future show that existing facilities will not be sufficient to accommodate projected enrollment and Academic growth. In an effort to provide much needed additional space on the Glassboro Campus (Appendix 1 (insert map showing campus from Rowan Website ) Rowan is in negotiations to purchase a school building located at 202 Delsea Dr., Glassboro, one block from Main Campus (Appendix 2 (insert Map showing Glassboro campus and location of GIS) The three-story Glassboro Intermediate School (GIS) sits on 9.52 acres fronting Delsea Drive, a major thoroughfare in the Borough of Glassboro. Built in 1934, the building has been well maintained and benefitted from major renovations in 1997 and 2002. The 78,800 sf main building uses currently include: classrooms, labs, administrative offices, cafeteria, gymnasium and lockers, library and orchestra room. There are also a 6,300 sf annex building and 3,420 sf storage building on site. (Appendix 3) Rowan desires to relocate several non-student facing departments from Main Campus to the GIS building, including: Purchasing, Human Resources, Accounting and Research. The Project will require an understanding of the spatial needs of each of the relocating departments and optimization of their location within the renovated GIS building.
