The Work to be done under the Contract shall consist of accessibility upgrades to the current City of Winnipeg weather protected walkway system while maintaining code compliancy and achieving security requirements. The major components of the Work are as follows: (a) Visit the site and verify all dimensions, elevations, datums and detailed information specified herein. (b) Prior to commencement of any Work the General Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining all required permits to complete the demolition and construction scope of Work. (c) General Contractor shall provide safety and dust proof barriers to protect all publicly occupied areas during the demolition and construction period. (d) Maintain exiting and egress in accordance with authorities having jurisdiction throughout the course of the Work. (e) Perform Work in strict accordance with the National Building Code of Canada and any other code of Provincial application and local authorities having jurisdiction. (f) Remove all existing constructions and finishes necessary for the completion of the Work as depicted on the Drawings and Specifications. (g) Disconnects and alterations to existing electrical systems shall be included. (h) Disconnects and alterations to existing electrical systems shall be included. (i) Replace existing door hardware to include automatic door operators, actuator push plates, exit devices, pulls, hinges, door panels, sidelights, door glazing and relocation of card readers as specified. (j) Patch and make good all existing surfaces adjacent and abutting new construction and all existing conditions affected by the construction and demolition Work. (k) All electrical wires, cables, non-combustible raceways, outlet boxes and other similar services that penetrate fire walls, fire separations or assemblies shall be sealed by fire stop system in compliance with the current Building Code. (l) Provide for fire stops in concealed spaces as required by the current Building Code. (m) All fire resistance rated assemblies shall be complete with fire rated backing to maintain the integrity of the fire resistance.
