As of December 14, 2023, per owner, a design team and general contractor have been identified. Project is in final construction, substantial completion date was December 3, 2023. Project is on time and on budget. SCOPE: This project is for the construction of a vacant segment of sidewalk to provide continuous pedestrian access on the east side of East Main Street. This area is partially within the Town of Abingdon Historic District. The length of the project is approximately 330 linear feet. The project schedule established for construction is to begin in the spring/summer of 2022. The consultant shall provide comprehensive engineering design services, including, but not limited to: planning, design, developing construction documents, submittal of applications to VDOT, surveying, bidding, construction management and other professional services as required to complete the project. VDOT will perform the environmental review. This work is to be accomplished utilizing computerized design and drafting systems compatible with VDOT's automated design and drafting systems. VDOT's roadway design system is GEOPAK Civil Design Software and the drafting system is MicroStation. This project will be developed utilizing VDOT's policies and procedures and FHWA's guidelines. This Request for Proposal does not commit the Town of Abingdon to award a contract, to pay any costs incurred in the preparation of a proposal for this request, or to procure or contract for services.
