Chlorine Building Safety Upgrades Installation and commissioning of electrical and mechanical equipment for emergency ventilation and chlorine supply shut-off The City of Prince Rupert is seeking proposals from qualified proponents in response to this request for proposals for upgrades to safety systems at the City's chlorine storage building. The City's drinking water is treated by the injection of chlorine gas at the chlorine storage building located near Shawatlan Lake. Chlorine gas is stored in this building in one ton containers, which are drawn from to inject the gas into the water supply mains prior to distribution to the community. The City has identified a number of upgrades that are required to this building to ensure the safety of nearby staff in the event of an accidental release of chlorine gas within the building. Scope of Services The services will comprise supply, installation, and commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems for the Project including, without limiting: (i) exhaust fan, ducting, door grilles, and vent stack; (ii) decommissioning and removal of select electrical and mechanical system components; (iii) installation of new mechanical and electrical system components; and (iv) configuration and commissioning of all new system components, all to be carried out with consideration being given to a focus on value to the City and Project budget.
