Washington County is requesting quotes for replacement of various storm windows at the Washington County Historic Courthouse located in Stillwater, MN. The Washington County Historic Courthouse in Stillwater is one of the oldest standing courthouses in Minnesota, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in the 1970's. The Courthouse is a two-story brick-faced masonry building. The original courthouse was built in 1870 with subsequent additions (jail and what is now the Vault exhibit space built in 1900) and a ramp and stairs at the west side of the courthouse is of the more recent construction. Parts of the main exterior stairs and walks have also been rebuilt more recently. Awarded to :- Peterson Construction Washington county is now looking to add stormwindows on numerous windows at the Court house using funds received through a Minnesota historical society grant Washington County received. In 2013, the County received a grant from the Minnesota Historical Society, which bound the County into a contract for 20 years and states, "no visual or structural alterations will be made to the property without prior written permission of the Society". The contractor will provide any documentation needed pertaining to construction to obtain approval and/or permits from the Minnesota Historical Society and City of Stillwater.
