The City of Aurora's Public Works Department is looking to consolidate the personnel and equipment from several maintenance divisions (Electrical, Streets, Fleet, Water & Sewer, and Water Meter Maintenance). Since the existing facilities which currently house these divisions are in varying states of disrepair and are functionally outdated, it was determined that the construction of a new, consolidated facility for these divisions is necessary. On July 24, 2018, City Council approved an Ordinance to acquire a 25.4-acre parcel near Liberty and New York Streets for the construction of the new facility. The City of Aurora is requesting Professional Service Qualifications to provide Engineering Design Services for the construction of a duel-pump fueling station with a minimum of two (2) underground storage tanks with an anticipated capacity of 20,000 gallons each. This station will be a component of the proposed 195,000 SF Combined Maintenance Facility, which is currently in design development by the team of Kluber Architects + Engineers and Kueny Architects, LLC and is anticipated to be constructed over the next few years. The City of Aurora's Engineering Division is designing and bidding all elements outside of the building including earthwork, site utilities, and building pads for ancillary structures including a salt storage dome and fueling station (but not the structures themselves). The proposed site plan, which shows the location of the fueling station to be designed, is included with this RFQ. The selected firm will be tasked with designing the fueling station and all of it's supporting components and systems (including overflow infrastructure, etc.). Brief interviews with City staff to determine and confirm specific attributes of the station to be designed should be anticipated. The final deliverable to be provided to the City will include detailed plans and specifications (in PDF format) that the City will incorporate into a stand-alone, City-published Request for Bids (RFB) to construct the fueling station. The selected firm will not be required to include grading or site preparation in its scope of design services. The selected firm will also be required to respond to Requests for Information (RFI's) from the selected contractor during the construction phase. There will be no pre-bid meeting for this project.
