As of November 21, 2025, this Project is in the right of way acquisition phase. The project is not funded for construction and does not have proposed construction start date. The plans are at 90% design. 240836-1 SR 40 from US 17 (SR 15) to west of SR 11 The purpose of this project is to increase capacity, operations and safety along State Road (S.R.) 40 from U.S. 17 (S.R. 15) to S.R. 11. The planned improvements include constructing new travel lanes to the south of the existing roadway to serve eastbound traffic. The existing roadway would be resurfaced and serve as the westbound travel lanes. Project plans also include a new 12-foot-wide multi-use trail on the south side of the road. To provide wildlife crossings, the project proposes to construct four box culverts. Two of those crossings are 4 feet high and 10 feet wide; one is 8 feet high by 19 feet wide; and the fourth is 5 feet high by 6 feet wide.
