The Department of Transportation (DOT), Airports Division, seeks the services of qualified architectural and/or engineering firms to provide planning services for the Microgrid Feasibility Study, Statewide Airports. These services are anticipated to be immediately required, and the completion of the feasibility study will be due within one thousand ninety-five (1,095) calendar days from the Notice to Proceed. The DOT, Airports Division, has submitted a Federal Emergency Management Agency Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (FEMA BRIC) application. The project scope will align with the application to include providing a feasibility study to explore implementing microgrids at State of Hawaii Airports to help mitigate energy grid failure caused by natural hazards by providing redundant power and energy resilience. The expected outcomes of the feasibility study will identify recommendations for sustainable microgrids and power redundancy at each of the 15 State-owned airports in Hawaii, select a pilot airport for further conceptual design to implement sustainable microgrids, and develop a follow-on mitigation project application for one of the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance programs.
