Renovation of a laboratory facility in Princeton, New Jersey. Completed plans call for the renovation of a laboratory facility.

Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) a National Laboratory and Federally Funded Research and Development Center RDC) operated by The Trustees of Princeton University, a US Department of Energy Prime Contractor wishes to solicit proposals in response to Request for Proposal (RFP) 22-022C to restore from a mothball state PPPL's Motor Generator (MG) #2 located at PPPL, 100 Stellarator Road, James Forrestal Campus, US Route 1 North, Plainsboro, NJ The work includes preventive maintenance (PM) and repair (removing and repairing defective welds around the generator rotor spider and the restoration of the lower journal to OEM specifications) for one (1) single shaft Vertical Motor Generator (MG) set (Mfr. General Electric Co.) with supporting auxiliaries. Each of PPPL's two MG sets consists of one generator rated 475 MVA (pulse rated), 2,250 mega-Joules at a 300 second repetition rate, 13.8 kV, 28 pole, three (3) phase seven (7) circuit wye connected and operating pulse speed range 257.14 to 375 rpm. Combined stator and rotor weight 925 tons; and one (1) wound rotor induction motor rated 15,000 H.P., 13.2 kV, 22 pole, synchronous speed 327 rpm, operating speeds 257.14 to 374 rpm. Stator and rotor connected three (3) phase, two (2) circuit wye and motor weight 30 tons. The supporting ancillary equipment includes excitation system, cycloconverter, liquid rheostat, heat exchangers, switchgear, breakers, lube oil system, mechanical brake, the CO2 fire protection system, instrumentation, and on-line vibration monitor systems. The magnitude of this procurement is between $1,000,000 and $2,000,000. The period of performance is 180 calendar days after subcontract award. The applicable NAICS code is 238290 - Other Building Equipment Contractors. The procurement will be unrestricted (full and open competition). Proposals are due to PPPL by 4:00 PM (EST), Friday, April 1, 2022. This announcement shall not commit PPPL to issue a subcontract for this effort, or to pay any costs incurred by offerors in the preparation and submittal of proposals in response to this RFP. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
