The general nature of the work on which bids are requested is: 168 LF of curb and gutter removal and replacement, 1,762 SY of sidewalk removal and replacement, 1,742 SY of paver sidewalk installation and miscellaneous related work and appurtenances in accordance with the contract documents. The city manager shall announce the results of the bidding, together with recommendations thereon, to the City Council at its meeting to be held at 6:00 PM local time on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 in the Council Chambers in City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue, Ames, Iowa, at which time and place the City Council will hear objections to the proposed plans, specifications, and form of contract for said 2022/23 Main Street Paver Replacement Program. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Code of Iowa Section 26.8 and as specified in the Instructions to Bidders. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. The City of Ames reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days after receipt of bids, and no bid may be withdrawn during this period. Work shall be completed no later than the designated contract completion date of November 18, 2022. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
