Recreation Sites and Trails BC, Discovery Coast Recreation District is soliciting proposals from parties interested in maintaining and managing Miller Creek Recreation Site, a fee for service recreation site located off Highway 28, approximately 20 km west of Campbell River. It is the objective of the Ministry to:
. Retain these recreation sites for public ownership and use
. Provide safe, sanitary, socially acceptable, environmentally sound, rustic recreation opportunities
. Develop a partnership with the successful party managing these sites
. Use an agreement to formalize the partnership
. Maintain Provincial Recreation Site standards for the duration of the operating season
. Have these recreation sites be self-sufficient with user fees covering the cost of the maintenance and management Proposals will be evaluated and a multi-year agreement, with an option to renew, will be developed with the successful proponent before the Agreement Holder begins managing and maintaining the recreation sites on or after March 31, 2022, depending on the completion of the Partnership Agreement. The Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development (FLNRORD) Recreation Sites and Trails BC (RSTBC) branch operates some of their campsites as "fee for service" campsites. These campsites have sufficient use that the fees collected will cover the cost of managing and maintaining the site. Maintenance standards for these campsites are found in Schedule F-Operational Standards Recreation Sites of the attached sample Partnership Agreement.
