Margaret Brent Regional Special Education Center currently serves students ages 5-21 who have severe to profound special education needs. This project is intended to modernize and expand the capacity to prepare the school to become an elementary school for PK to Grade 5 students. The new school will be built for 800 students with a special education component for up to 50 special needs students. Students at Glenridge ES will relocated to the new building. Currently Glenridge and Woodridge elementary school are on adjacent property. The Brent school location will allow the Glenridge school to be more centrally located to its service area. The existing Glenridge building will be given to the Prince Georges County Parks and Recreation Department as part of an agreement to construct the new Glenridge Middle School on the same property. The FY22 request is for State planning approval to begin construction in the Fall of 2024. The construction funds will be requested in FY25 and FY26.
