Site work and new construction of a fire / police facility in Newport News, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a fire / police facility; and for site work for a fire / police facility.

The project consists of the construction of a new fire station in the Menchville area (Fire Station No. 12). A new fire station would increase the availability of resources to answer emergency calls as well as decrease the travel time for units responding in the Menchville area. Currently Fire Station No. 6 covers the entire Oyster Point area from the city line to the James River (Menchville area). Over the last several years the city has experienced significant growth in the Oyster Point corridor. With the increase in growth, there has been an increase in call volume for Fire Station No. 6 along with an increase in response times for the Menchville area. Secondary coverage for this area is provided by Fire Station No. 10 and Fire Station No. 9, both of which have significant travel times to this area. This project is in included in the City of Newport News FY 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
