Approximately 4,383 acres of the Newmarket Creek Watershed has been over-developed and rerouted through ditches and pipes throughout the years, before stormwater design regulations were established. The area is prone to drainage issues and frequent flooding. This project includes funding for the analysis of the Newmarket Creek system. Subsequent funds for the design and construction of modifications and additions to the system is included for implementation of recommended projects. The modifications and additions will allow the system to maintain the efficient conveyance of runoff while meeting regulatory requirements for water quantity and quality. This project is included in the city's 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of July 9, 2024, per owner, this is a study only at this time and consultant has just been released to start.
