Various Schools and Buildings HVAC Systems & Building Automation Controls Mechanical Prime The Board of Public Education of the School District of Pittsburgh is looking to partner with a qualified mechanical prime contractor to service and perform upgrades on the district's HVAC building automation systems and building HVAC systems. The district's objective for the HVAC automation systems is to continue expanding the existing Tridium Niagara controls system so that it eventually becomes a district-wide controls platform. The primary benefit of the Tridium Niagara system is that it is a non-proprietary controls platform that can be serviced by many qualified contractors in the Pittsburgh market, thus eliminating vendor lock-in. Bidders must have the ability to service both the existing Johnson Controls Metasys and Tridium Niagara controls platforms, but the ultimate goal is to eliminate the obsolete Metasys system, as well as systems of other manufacturers and replace it with Johnson Controls Facility Explorer supervisory controllers that connect to the district's Tridium Niagara web supervisor. To do so, the district would like to leverage as many of the existing Johnson Controls field controllers and as much of the existing wiring as possible. The district also has many buildings with pneumatic controls, so bidders must also have experience replacing pneumatic controls with digital controls
