The replacement of the platform support beams that have deteriorated. This deterioration has caused the partial closures of the Northbound platform. Project Cost Class C - $500,000 to $1,000,000 *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. This Contract is for the replacement of the Northbound and Southbound Platforms for Laurel MARC railroad station located in Laurel, Maryland. This project is immediately east of the MARC Laurel Station building and is bounded by Lafayette Avenue to the east and Main Street to the north. The work shall be performed in four phases in order maintain portions of the platform available for MARC passenger use at all times. The work involves: a. Demolition of the existing timber and resin lumber platforms, supporting steel beams, stairs, and the ADA ramp. Previous Northbound Platform repairs to remain. b. Concrete repairs to deteriorated columns. c. Construction of new timber platform supported by new timber beams with new timber staircases. d. Construction of a Temporary Southbound ADA Ramp. e. Construction of a new Southbound ADA Ramp using structural steel and concrete. f. Removal, preservation and reinstallation of signs, pedestrian railing, fencing, and the Northbound Platform Shelter. g. Removal and installation of new benches, pedestrian railing, and fencing.
