No bid will be opened unless the "Bidders Proof of Responsibility" for 2022 is filed in the office of the City Clerk not later than March 30, 2022. Forms are included in specifications and are also available at the office of the City Clerk. Reference is made to Section 66.0901 Wisconsin Statutes. No bid shall be received unless accompanied by a certified check or a bid bond equal to five percent of the bid, payable to the City as a guarantee that if the bid is accepted, the bidder will execute and file the proper contract and bond within 10 days from the date the lowest responsible bidder's bid is accepted. If the bidder fails to file such contract and bond within the time set by the City, the check or bid bond shall be forfeited to the City as liquidated damages. The construction work covered by these specifications shall include the furnishing of all materials, equipment, and labor to replace existing private-side lead and galvanized water services, together with such appurtenances as are set forth in the proposal, except those specially stated as being furnished by the City of Appleton. Work under this contract is limited to the private portion of the water service line from the house meter to the city curb box.
