This project amounts to nearly $1.3 million and will replace the existing bridge with one that features wider lanes and shoulders compared to the existing bridge. The long-term road closure will allow a contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation to begin replacing a bridge over Polecat Creek. A detour will guide traffic North of the work site turning onto East Sheraton Park Road and then traffic will be routed South to get back to the intersection of East Steeple Chase Road. Throughout the duration of the construction, the road will be blocked in both directions. Barricades will be in place to stop traffic from entering. According to county officials, crews have 180 days to complete the replacement. Drivers should remain cautious and alert when approaching the work zone and take into account the detour in their trips. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ NCDOT - Construction of new location roadways on the north and south side of I-73 and three bridges in I-73 Guilford County.
