Demolition and site work for a transportation facility in Hartford, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the demolition of a 2,600-square-foot, two-story above grade transportation facility; and for site work for a transportation facility.
Demolition of the former Administration Building at the Hartford-Brainard Airport followed by site restoration. The two-story commercial building with basement encompasses approximately 2,600 square feet. During demolition, temporary facilities will be necessary along with soil erosion and sediment controls. A memorial tree and monument are located at the front of the building that must be protected during site work. Prior to demolition activities, utilities will need to be disconnected and a demolition permit from the City of Hartford. Prior to structural demolition, Universal Wastes and other listed regulated items and off-site disposal or recycling must be removed from the building, abatement of asbestos containing materials (ACM) and off-site disposal must be performed, and identified paint and caulk containing polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) must be removed for off-site disposal as PCB Bulk Product Waste. Demolition of the building includes associated sidewalks, foundation, and ramps. The demolition debris must be removed and disposed at an approved off-site facility. Following demolition, the foundation excavation shall be backfilled to match surrounding grades and turf established. Final site restoration includes installation of a security fence to isolate the airport from the surrounding area. CLARIFICATION DEADLINE 4/7/2022 1:00 PM Each sealed bid shall be accompanied by a certified check, cashiers check or satisfactory Bid Bond, in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the bid, payable to the Connecticut Airport Authority The contract time for completion of all work is within one hundred twenty (120) calendar days from the date specified in the Notice to Proceed. The requirements of 49 CFR Part 26, Regulations of the U.S. Department of Transportation, apply to this contract. It is the policy of the CAA to practice nondiscrimination based on race, color, sex, or national origin in the award or performance of this contract. All firms qualifying under this solicitation are encouraged to submit bids/proposals. Award of this contract will be conditioned upon satisfying the requirements of this section. These requirements apply to all bidders/offerors, including those who qualify as a DBE. A DBE contract goal of six and three-tenths percent (6.3%) has been established for this contract. The bidder/offeror shall make good faith efforts, as defined in Appendix A, 49 CFR Part 26, to subcontract six and three-tenths percent (6.3%) of the dollar value of the prime contract to Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE), as defined in 49 CFR Part 26.
