The work generally consists of the year-round grounds maintenance of the U.S. Highway 30 corridor within the jurisdiction of the City of Valparaiso. More specifically, the area encompasses the median (base bid) and parkways (alternate bid 'A') of the U.S. Highway 30 corridor beginning at a point approximately 890 feet West of Hayes Leonard Road (C.R. 150 W) Easterly to Axe Avenue / City View Drive. The scope of maintenance entails yearly trash pick-up, seasonal mowing & trimming, tree & shrub pruning, pest control, weed control, mulching, and herbicide / growth regulator application. It is the intent of the City to award a contract with a term of two (2) years, with an alternative option of adding an additional one (1) year term at the discretion of the City. Anticipated Award of Contract date: April 22, 2022 Anticipated Start Date of Contract: Approximately May 1, 2022 Bids shall be sealed and shall have the name and address of the bidder and the contract for which the bid is being submitted on the outside of the envelope. All bidders shall bid in accordance with and upon the Bid Forms included in the Request for Bid. No bid shall be received unless accompanied by a certified check or satisfactory bond payable to the City of Valparaiso in the amount not less than 5% of the maximum bid as a guarantee that, if the bid is accepted, the bidder will execute the contract and file the insurance certification, as required by the Request for Bid, within ten (10) days after written notice of award. The City of Valparaiso reserves the right to reject any and all bids, waive any informalities in bidding or to accept the bid or bids which best serves the interests of the City of Valparaiso. No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of 60-days after the scheduled opening without the consent of the City of Valparaiso. The contract letting shall be subject to and governed by the laws of the State of Indiana. All bidders must comply with all City of Valparaiso local policies.
