The City of Independence is requesting proposals from licensed landscaping contractors interested in providing landscape maintenance at various city owned properties and parks, during a 1-year contract with the City of Independence with a potential of four (4) one (1) year renewals. Submission by hand delivery shall be addressed to City of Independence, Public Works Director's Office, 555 S Main Street, Independence, OR 97351. The Public Works Director will make review of the proposals and recommended selection. The review process might include an in-person interview of the lead candidate(s). The City Council is scheduled to consider the recommended selection at their May 10, 2022, meeting. Cost of the services will be negotiated between the parties as part of the selection process. Scope of Work The city intends to select a qualified landscaping contractor to provide the following weekly and/or as needed services due to seasonal dependency:
A. 1. Mowing - every seven (7) days, or as weather permits to maintain a suitable height for the variety of grass and season to ensure a manicured appearance.
2. Edge - all plant beds, fences, sidewalks, driveways, tree rings, parking lots, playground boxes and other surfaced areas bordered by grass with each mow.
3. Trim/Prune - shrubs, bushes, and trees as well as trim weeds around lamp posts, fences to maintain a manicured appearance.
4. Weed control - broad weed spray once a year at all parks and weed spray flower beds and other areas when needed.
5. Blow/Leaf removal - walking paths and hard surfaces shall be free of debris after each mow; during leaf season all leaves will need to be removed and properly discarded.
B. 1. Fertilization - grass areas shall be aerated, seeded, and fertilized in the fall and spring and as needed to ensure a healthy appearance.
2. Mulch/Bark Dust - a new layer of mulch or bark dust shall be added to areas during Spring. All mulched/bark dust areas shall be free of weeds and fluffed every month or when needed. Locations Year-round lawn maintenance at the following locations:
