Bid Description: The Board of County Commissioners of Garrett County, Maryland will accept sealed bids for the replacement of the existing Automated Weather Observing Station at the Garrett County Airport (2G4), 771 Airport Road in Accident, Maryland. The project includes construction for the replacement of the existing Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) with a new AWOS III PT to be certified by the FAA to provide critical local weather information to pilots for use in their flight planning. This project will involve the replacement of the sensors on the existing infrastructure for the AWOS III System. The sensors being replaced include the electronic Dual Barometer, Wind Speed/Direction, Temperature, Humidity, Visibility Sensors, Wind Sensor and Ceilometer. This project will add sensors for Precipitation, Thunderstorm and Freezing Rain. The existing foundations for tower and ceilometer will be reused; therefore, no ground disturbance is anticipated. A bid bond in the amount of 5% of the total bid amount shall be submitted with each bid.
