2022 Sidewalk Program The proposal shall include a bid bond for 5% of the total bid in accordance with IDOT standards (or equal) to insure that the contractor will be able to provide a performance bond to guarantee completion of the awarded contract. Bids received from contractors that were not recommended as qualified by the design engineer will not be opened and will be returned to the bidder. The project consists of the removal of approximately 10,000 square feet of existing concrete sidewalk and installation of a new 5" thick portland cement concrete sidewalk on a 2" aggregate base at various locations throughout the village. The contractor will be required to perform the necessary excavation and disposal of material to provide the necessary thickness. All restoration within 6" of the forms will be completed by others. Restoration beyond 6" of the forms will be the responsibility of the contractor and will be considered incidental to the contract. Bidder Qualifications: Only contractors with a current IDOT Certificate of Eligibility for this type of work OR contractors that can demonstrate that they have successfully completed similar projects, project owner references, and equipment resources to complete this project will be recommended for this work. No proposal booklets will be released in response to requests received after noon on March 25, 2022. This project is being funded entirely with non-MFT funds. The Village of Orland Hills reserves the right to adjust the project scope prior to the award if is determined to be in the best interest of the village and acceptable to the contractor. The village also reserves the right to adjust quantities as recommended by the design engineer as work progresses. 6. Compliance: The contractor shall be required to comply with all Federal, State of Illinois, Cook County, and Village of Orland Hills applicable laws, acts, disclosures, certifications, and prevailing wages. The work must be completed by July 1, 2022 unless additional time is requested and granted by the Village of Orland Hills. Liquidated damages in accordance with article 108.09 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction will be imposed for failure to meet this deadline.
