Saving Project...

Renovation of a mixed-use development in Los Angeles, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: This Project is proposed by the David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) Facilities Management to retrofit and install new fire sprinkler mains & heads in the corridors of the Center for Health Sciences (CHS), originally constructed in 1954 and consisting of approximately 65,000 asf. (1,050,000 gsf). PCL Construction, Inc., the CM at Risk Contractor on this UCLA project is currently seeking qualification submissions from Drywall and Acoustic Ceiling subcontractor bidders . Refer to the attached PDF Advertisement and follow instructions therein. The intent of this Project is to provide the capability to provide automatic fire sprinklers for existing and future research labs and other uses in the building. The DGSOM scope of work shall include the complete design and provision of fire sprinkler mains in corridors 2, 3, 8 and partial corridors 6 and 4 on floors 1-7 of CHS. These mains will connect to recently installed fire sprinkler risers in the building, and will allow for the connection of future fire sprinkler lines into individual spaces adjacent to the corridors, including research labs, instructional spaces and administrative suites. The new mains will be typically installed in the existing hard lid plenum above exiting corridors and connect to existing standpipes and riser assembly in Stairwells. This will provide the automatic fire sprinkler capabilities in the existing corridors and the infrastructure to accommodate future fire protection needs and in support of the overall DGSOM program to connect existing and future Capital Projects requiring connection(s). The Public Health scope of work shall include provision a fire sprinkler riser and connections to the existing sprinkler system on the 7th floor of the School of Public Health. The entire project scope of work shall be performed in a fully operational and occupied building. All work performed Monday-Friday shall be performed at day or night. Work sequence shall be determined with input from University and User Groups. The University intends to take Beneficial Occupancy of project areas as work in those areas is completed. The CM/Contractor reserves the right to reject any or all responses to Prequalification Questionnaires and to waive non-material irregularities in any response received. *Information regarding subcontractor bidding has not been disclosed to the content management team at this time. Interested subcontractors should contact the general contractor directly for more information.
