The City of Cedar Park operates and maintains more than 4,600 street lights. Inspecting street lights and responding to street light failures is a labor-intensive process that consumes a large amount of resources. The City intends to implement a street light control system that will enable automated remote management of these devices and provide location services. The street light control system will provide the City with the capabilities to: ensure that its street lights are operating as intended; provide automated alerts for any street lights that are not operating as expected; provide advance notification of devices that need to be proactively scheduled for preventative maintenance activities; monitor the energy consumption of each street light; and operate streetlights in ways that enhance public perception and safety, such as scheduled or automatic dimming. The primary goal of this RFP is to select a technology solution provider to furnish the City with the required hardware and software for a full implementation of a Street Light Control System. The City will install the equipment furnished by the selected vendor.
