Bid No.: 22023 Repairs. Resurfacing and Striping of Basketball and Tennis Courts at City Parks. Lawrence is a diverse and multifaceted city that provides many of the amenities of a large metropolitan area, while still maintaining a strong sense of community. The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department oversees a park system which includes 54 parks. RESURFACING OF BASKETBALL AND TENNIS COURTS: Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, permits, tools, supervision, and transportation necessary to resurface basketball and tennis courts as specified.
- Contractor shall verify existing conditions of courts to ensure that they are suitable for the work requested. Submission of quote is verification that this requirement has been met.
- All methods and products used shall be approved by the final coat system manufacturer. Crack sealants and patch materials must either have the same manufacturer as the finish surface or be approved for use by the finish surface manufacturer.
- Contractor shall pressure clean the court surface to remove algae, debris, & dirt; and power blow to remove any debris such as loose dirt or court surface.
- Contractor shall patch all depressions deeper than 1/8" when surface condition meets manufacturer guidelines. Low areas may be identified by flooding or rainfall.
- Contractor shall grind or scrape all raised structural cracks throughout the court to level them with the surrounding court filling all with crack filler after cleaning.
- All nonstructural cracks, raised ridges or other defects shall be ground or scraped before filling with crack filler.
- Any severe cracking conditions contractor shall furnish and install a fiberglass membrane to cover the entire area where severe cracking occurs to prevent reflection of cracks and aide in the prevention of new cracks from appearing on the court surface.
- Contractor shall prepare the court to a smooth and even condition, blending as required to conceal patched and repaired areas.
- Courts must have a minimum of 1% slope in plane to guarantee water removal.
- Contractor shall apply one (1) coat of resurfacing product to the entire court area to fill voids and promote proper paint adhesion.
- Contractor shall apply two (2) coats of textured surface product in the color(s) chosen by the City. RESTRIPING BASKETBALL AND TENNIS COURTS: Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, permits, tools, supervision, and transportation necessary to restripe basketball and tennis courts.
- Contractor shall accurately locate and mark playing lines on the court surface.
- Contractor shall apply striping tape using taping machine for pinpoint accuracy.
- Contractor shall seal the tape to eliminate bleeding of line paint onto the court surface outside of the playing lines.
- Contractor shall paint playing lines using heavy bodied acrylic latex compound with pigments and mineral filler to form a high hiding line for application of asphalt or acrylic coated surfaces.
