A tabulation of bids received will be prepared and shall be presented and acted upon by the City Council of Mount Pleasant, Iowa at a meeting to be held after the Public Hearing at 5:30 P.M. on the 13th day of April 2022 at the City Hall, 307 East Monroe St., Mount Pleasant, Iowa 52641. Each bid shall be made on a form furnished by the ENGINEER and accompanied by a bidder's bond with corporate surety satisfactory to the governing body, a check drawn on and certified by an Iowa bank or a U.S. chartered bank, or a certified share draft drawn on an Iowa credit union, and filed in a sealed envelope separate from the one containing the bid and in an amount at least equal to ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, made payable to the City of Mount Pleasant, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and may be cashed by the City of Mount Pleasant, Mount Pleasant, Iowa as liquidated damages in the event the successful Bidder fails to enter into a contract within ten (10) days after award of the Contract and post bond satisfactory to the City of Mount Pleasant insuring the faithful performance of the Contract. The successful Bidder shall be required to furnish a Performance and Payment Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract price, said bonds to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council.The Bidder agrees to pay as liquidated damages the sum of $500 for each consecutive calendar day after August 22, 2022, that all work is not fully completed. The City of Mount Pleasant reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities and irregularities.
