Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Union Bridge, Maryland. Completed plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

This project is for the replacement of Bridge CL-245 which carries Shepherds Mill Road over Little Pipe Creek. Beginning at a point roughly one mile northeast of the intersection of Shepherds Mill Road and Quaker Hill Road and extending in a northeasterly direction for a total length of project distance 0.05 miles. The work includes: Detour and maintenance of traffic during temporary roadway closure throughout project; installation and maintenance of stream diversion for maintenance of stream throughout project; installation of utility trench with concrete encased conduits for Utility relocation and coordinate with Utility owners for relocation of utilities; demolition and removal of the existing superstructure and substructure, including installation of demo shielding for the removal of the existing bridge section; construction of new concrete integral abutments and wingwalls supported on HP 14x73 steel piles grouted in a 10'-0" rock socket; construction of a new one (1) span steel girder bridge, 105'-4" long center to center of bearings with an 8 1/2 " reinforced concrete deck and three (3) strand structural tube railing (the new superstructure will provide a 28'-0" clear roadway width and a 31'-4" out-to-out superstructure width); construction of storm water management facilities; associated roadway work including pavement milling, asphalt paving, and installation of traffic barrier w-beam with corresponding end treatments; and all other incidentals necessary to complete the work For questions regarding this, contact the Office of Procurement at (410) 386-2181. Bid deposits shall be in the form of a Bid Bond or certified check made payable to the County Commissioners of Carroll County, in the amount of Five percent (5%) of the Base Bid Sum. Non performance by a successful bidder or failure to execute the agreement or meet bond requirements within twenty (20) days after the award shall result in the bid deposit being forfeited to the County as liquidated damages. Bid deposits will be returned to unsuccessful bidders upon award of the contract and the meeting of bond requirements by the successful bidder. The County reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities or informalities in its best interest. Bids may be rejected for any omissions, alterations of form, additions or deductions, conditions or uninvited alternate bids, or irregularities of any kind. Bids in which the prices are not balanced may be rejected. Claims resulting from mistakes or omissions in bids will not be considered, except as specifically permitted by law.
