Saving Project...

Site work for a sidewalk / parking lot in Fraser Lake, British Columbia. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot.

The Endako sidewalk runs along the southside of Endako Avenue in the Village of Fraser Lake between Chowsunket Street and Carrier Crescent. This is the busiest sidewalk in the community with a few let downs for street access and residential driveways. The Village of Fraser Lake is seeking proposals from qualified contractors to remove and replace the curb, gutter, and sidewalk for this approximate 600M section. The successful proponent will be responsible to complete the following scope of work. 1. The provision of materials, tools and equipment and labor to install new sidewalk, gutter and curb and any other requirements, for the replacement of these structures along Endako Avenue approximately 600M. 2. Use of qualified sub-contractors is acceptable. Joint submissions are acceptable assuming one of the firms is prepared to take overall responsibility as Prime Contractor for successful completion of the project. Quotes from sub trades must be included in your proposal. 3. If alternative solutions are offered, the information should be submitted in the same format but as a separate Proposal and clearly marked as an alternative solution. The Village reserves the right to consider or reject alternate proposals. 4. Material for final compaction will be provided, however, final compaction must be completed by the contractor. Special Note: The Village would like a secondary quote for the removal and disposal of existing sidewalk, curb & gutter materials. The materials can be disposed of at the Village's Public Works yard. Dependent on costs, the Village may complete this portion of the project. Construction Details Length of sidewalk is approx. 600M Curb & gutter length is approx. 600M Sidewalk slab size - 2135mm x 150mm The grade (running slope) of the sidewalk should match the adjacent roadway profile grade. A curb ramp running slope of 10% for a 150mm. rise is not acceptable. The maximum cross slope is 2.00%. Where a curb ramp meets the roadway, the surface should be flush. Along the Pedestrian Access Route (PAR), the vertical surface discontinuity cannot exceed 12mm Discontinuities 6.5mm and less can remain. Discontinuities greater than 6.5mm to 13mm must be beveled The maximum ramp running slope on a driveway entrance let down apron approach is 8.33% Sidewalks placed at drives shall be 150mm. thick or same depth as existing drive, whichever is greater. Forms should be checked prior to pour to ensure maximum slopes are not exceeded and minimum dimensions are met. Concrete on all driveway approaches and sidewalk slab shall have 9.5 mm rebar tied on 600mm O/C on with minimum 400mm overlap on rebar joints Sidewalk/ driveway access - Maximum 2.0%. 1.5% should be used for design. The cross-slope requirements still apply where the sidewalk crosses a driveway. The sidewalk cross slope takes precedence over the driveway grade. The driveway approach can be built on a varying grade to ensure the sidewalk cross slope does not exceed 2.0%. The grade break at the top and bottom of a curb ramp must be perpendicular to the direction of the ramp run. It may be necessary at corners with a larger radius to indent the grade break from the back of the curb to meet this requirement. Grade breaks are not permitted on the surface of the ramp run or within the landing area Cross slope measured perpendicular to the direction of pedestrian travel. The maximum allowable cross slope of a curb ramp, turning space, or clear space is 2.0% with the exceptions below permitted at crosswalks. 1.5% should be used for design purposes. At a crosswalk, it may be acceptable for the cross slope to exceed 2.0% without a determination of technical infeasibility. See Sidewalk and Crosswalk Basics cross slope information. Concrete Specifications Ready Mix Concrete shall comply with the requirements of CSA A23.1-14/A23.2-2014 Specification Class of Concrete Exposure Class C-2 Min. Compressive Strength 32 MPa at 28 days Max. W/C Ratio 0.45 Coarse Aggregate 19mm nominal size Air Content 5 to 8% Maximum Slump 75mm +/- 20 mm Only ready-mix concrete will be used. Hand-mixed or volume batch concrete will not be permitted. The finished product must be sealed.
