Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a mixed-use development in Seattle, Washington. Completed plans call for the demolition of a playground / park / athletic field; for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; for the construction of a 10,612-square-foot, two-story above grade playground / park / athletic field; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
Hoffman Construction Company of Washington has been selected as the Design-Builder Seattle Overlook Walk (being performed for The City of Seattle. The Overlook Walk will create an elevated public park and connection between the waterfront to Seattle's urban core. People can walk on the elevated pathway from Pike Place Market to the waterfront without ever crossing the new Alaskan Way. Overlook Walk will have expansive views of Elliott Bay, informal play areas, new public plazas and landscaping. Overlook Walk was designed around several key features, including the Salish Steps, the Bay Overlook, a café and retail space and a play area for families on the Bluff Walk. These features weave in the natural and cultural meanings of the space, including featuring indigenous artwork and using native plants. Overlook Walk is at the center of improvements from Pier 62 up to Pike Place Market and east along to Seattle's urban core, including Pike and Pine streets. Overlook Walk will also be integrated with Seattle Aquarium's proposed Ocean Pavilion expansion. - Public access to the waterfront with gradual slopes and a new elevator - An elevated panorama of Elliott Bay, the Olympics & Mount Rainier - Protected areas with food and beverage and seating - Slides and other play elements for families - Terraced landscaping with native plants The park structure will include a 355 square foot mechanical room, 5,437 square foot warehouse/storage, 3,315 square foot screened area, on the first floor. The second floor with have a 1,326 square foot cafe lease space / assembly area, 126 square foot restroom, 54 square foot mechanical room, and a 3,050 square foot canopy.
