The Town of East Hartford is seeking a qualified firm to complete a facade improvement project at 501 Main Street, in East Hartford, Connecticut. The project is part of the Commercial Facade Improvement Program, funded by the Community Development lock Grant (CDBG) program. The majority of the work consists of painting. A list of holidays is available from the Purchasing Department, upon request. The Contractor is to submit a project schedule, identifying the timeframe and the sequence of the work, to the Agent prior to the start of work, and an updated schedule along with requests for payment. The Contractor must provide 48 hours' notice to the Agent before beginning work and shall complete the work by July 29, 2022. The undersigned understands that the Owner reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, and to waive all formalities, any irregularities, and accept the Bid deemed to be in the Owner's best interest This project is federally funded. Federal Davis Bacon Wage Rates will be used and are included. Inspect surfaces to determine any work that is necessary above and beyond this outlined scope of work Remove and dispose of three decorative squares along upper portion of the front of the building Patch holes, cracks, or any damaged areas as needed Chemically treat surfaces that are glossy, chalky, rusty, moldy, or that have mildew to provide a good surface for painting Remove loose peeling paint by hand scraping, wire brushing, or hand sanding Power wash all surfaces to be painted to clean and remove loose paint Re-set or replace loose or popped nails as needed Remove the "Pho 501" sign from the front of the building, store it safely for the duration of the painting, and reinstall it upon the completion of the painting. Remove the metal brackets from prior signage, which are located near the horizontal light fixtures. Repair the brick as necessary. Cover surfaces as needed to protect them from paint and primer, drips, splatters, and spots Apply a full coat of primer to all surfaces to be painted, only excluding metal surfaces to be painted with paint that does not require a primer Apply paint to designated surfaces (see renderings) Different specified colors on trim and sidewalls (see renderings) Use paint appropriate for metal on awning, electrical conduit, gutters and downspouts, and any other metal surfaces Use paint appropriate for concrete on doorsteps Clean up and remove any debris and replace any removed objects Inspect finished job with customer and correct any items of concern
