This contract consists of furnishing personnel, equipment, and materials to perform regularly Scheduled Maintenance on existing water and sanitary sewer systems, under normal circumstances and Emergency Repairs on existing water and sanitary sewer systems, under emergency circumstances. Work will include, but not limited to, replacing failing, damaged or substandard water and sewer services, fire hydrants, rebuild manholes, make up new taps, and additional work necessary to complete this contract. All miscellaneous work related to the above. Quantities and major work items are more thoroughly described herein. No proposal shall be considered or accepted by the City Council unless at the time of its filing the same shall be accompanied by a deposit with the City of High Point of a certified check on a bank or trust company insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total bid. In lieu of making the deposit as above provided, such bidder may file a bid bond executed by a corporate surety licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute such bonds; conditioned that the surety will upon demand forthwith make payment to the City of High Point upon said bond if the bidder fails to execute the contract in accordance with the bid bond. This deposit shall be retained if the successful bidder fails to execute the contract within ten (10) days after award or fails to give satisfactory surety as required herein. A separate performance and payment bond each in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price will be required after bid award. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids, as may in the judgment of the City, serve its best interest and the City further reserves the right to waive irregularities and informalities in any bid submitted. A pre-bid conference will NOT be held but questions will be received until Tuesday, April 19th, 2022, by no later than 3:00PM with addendum to follow on Thursday, April 21, 2022.
