1 SCOPE OF WORK A. Provide all labor, materials, equipment and services required for furnishing and installing two (2) flush hydrants and appurtenances specified herein. 1.2 SUBMITTALS A. Submit shop drawings and product data. B. Descriptive literature, catalog cuts, and dimensional prints clearly indicating all dimensions and materials of construction, shall be submitted on all items specified herein to the Engineer for review before ordering. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 FLUSH HYDRANTS A. Hydrants shall be Mueller(R) 2-1/8" Post Type Fire Hydrant, Catalog Number A-411, 2-1/8" inch main valve opening one way (one 2-1/2" hose nozzle) B. Flush hydrants shall be field located and installed in two (2) locations at the Laundry, and Maintenance Building in accordance with the included details shown. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 SETTING OF FLUSH HYDRANTS A. Location: 1. Hydrants shall be located as shown on the Contract Drawings or as directed by the Owner or Engineer to provide complete accessibility and minimize the possibility of damage from vehicles or injury to pedestrians. B. Position: 1. All hydrants shall be set plumb with not less than two (2) cubic feet of crushed stone. Hydrants shall be set to the established grade, with nozzles at least thirty-six inches (36") above the ground, as shown on the Details in the Drawings, or as directed by the Owner 4803-04 HYDRANTS 331219-2 or Engineer. Hydrants shall be backfilled with crushed stone, which in encased by a section of an 18" diameter concrete pipe. (See Standard Details) C. Connection to Main: 1. Each hydrant shall be connected to the main with a restrained joint ductile iron branch controlled by an independent two (2) inch gate valve, unless otherwise specified. 3.2 FLUSH HYDRANT WRENCHES A. One (1) set of hydrant wrenches shall be furnished. Requirements: 1. Contractor must be a Kentucky licensed Plumber. 2. The Contractor must apply for a Carter County Health Department permit prior to work beginning. 3.
