The Town of Westport reserves the right to waive any defects and informalities in the bidding or in any bid, to reject any or all bids for any reason whatsoever, and to accept that bid deemed to be in the best interest of the Town of Westport. Each Bid must be accompanied by a Bid Bond payable to the Owner for fifteen (15) percent of the total amount of the Bid, including both the base bid amount and all alternates. As soon as the Bid prices have been compared, the Owner will return the bonds of all except the three lowest responsible Bidders. When the Agreement is executed the bonds of the two remaining unsuccessful Bidders will be returned. The Bid Bond of the successful Bidder will be retained until the payment bond and performance bond have been executed and approved, after which it will be returned. The surety on the bid bond must be a corporate surety licensed to sign surety bonds in the State of Connecticut and also listed by the United States Treasury Department in its latest list as a qualified surety acceptable to the United States Government. No bid bond will be accepted if the amount is less than 15% of the total estimated bid, including both the base bid and all alternates, or if the amount exceeds the limit for which the United States Treasury Department has qualified the surety for any one bond. A certified check may be used in lieu of a Bid Bond. A performance bond and a payment bond, each in the amount of 100 percent of the Contract Price, with a corporate surety approved by the owner, will be required for the faithful performance of the contract. The completion time for all work under this contract will be 14 business days with a start date of June 13, 2022 and a completion date of June 30, 2022. The Owner reserves the right to reject any Bid if the evidence submitted by, or investigation of, such Bidder fails to satisfy the Owner that such Bidder is properly qualified to carry out the obligations of the Agreement and to complete the Work contemplated therein.
