Furman Aquatic Center Lazy River Pipe Repair The project site is located at the City of Ames Parks & Recreation Furman Aquatic Center located at 1635 13th Street in Ames, IA. Work consists of lining a section of pipe and stop water loss in the Lazy River at the Furman Aquatic Center. It is the bidder's responsibility to confirm the existing equipment and conditions are compatible with items provided to complete this project. If the accepted bid is over $25,000, the selected Contractor will be required to provide a performance and payment bond equal to the total bid amount. Contractor will include the cost of the performance and payment bond in the bid. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of its contract price. Said bond shall be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City's Risk Manager and shall guarantee faithful performance of the contract and terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee prompt payment of material and labor and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the work in good repair for a period of one (1) year from and after the completion and acceptance by the City. By virtue of statutory authority, preference will be given to products and provision grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa, and to Iowa labor, to the extent lawfully required under Iowa statutes. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City. Written questions will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. local time on April 22, 2022. Said questions are to be submitted in AmesBids at amesbids.ionwave.net. 1. CIPP lining of pipe section to be completed with a no dig process, the pool deck is to be undisturbed. 2. CIPP liner material shall withstand constant chlorine (Cl) concentration of 1-8 parts per million (ppm) of typical swimming pool water and have no adverse reaction to concentrations of up to 35 ppm Cl as needed for typical hyperchlorination activities in pool maintenance. 3. The CIPP system shall consist of a zero-shrinkage resin (ZSR). 4. The CIPP system shall not rely upon hydrophilic gaskets between the host pipe and the installed liner to achieve a localized frictional interface for a leak tight seal. Establish a global (full length, full area) frictional interface seal. 5. CIPP system components shall contain no Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's), no Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs), nor shall they produce any significant nuisance odors or leachate into the pool waters that will negatively affect users, workers, and bystanders. 6. The CIPP system must be able to be installed through multiple 45- and 90-degree bends - up to 270 degrees in total. 7. The CIPP liner installation shall be accomplished remotely by "Precision PIP" (precision push- or pull-inplace) using cables to pull the CIPP liner into position or push rods to pushthe CIPP liner segment into position, or a combination thereof. 8. The CIPP liner pipe shall provide a smooth bore interior that conforms to the existing pipe and shall be leak tight to eliminate water leakage from the pipe to the exterior environmentand from the outside of the pipe to the interior.
