The project includes the Work to physically verify the materials of two hundred seventy-five (275) water service lines located throughout the City. Addresses where the Work will be performed will be provided with the final Contract Documents The Contractor will perform potholing at a minimum of two (2) locations per service line and at a minimum distance of 18 inches from the curb stop. One pothole shall be excavated on each side of the curb stop to verify the pipe materials. Out of the 275 locations, 7 will require additional potholing and material verification at the corporation stop. A total of 557 excavations and associated material verifications will be completed. To the extent feasible, the potholes should be located within the green belt of each service line. Pavement removal and replacement should be minimized. The anticipated depth of pipe is approximately 6 feet below grade, but may be up to 8 feet. The Contractor should prepare for sandy soils and shallow groundwater in low lying areas. The Contractor will be responsible for coordinating Work in the public Right of Way with the City DPW staff, providing suitable backfill, handling and disposal of unsuitable spoils, and complete surface restoration of disturbed areas. The Owner will be responsible for locating curb stops and corporation stops for the Contractor, and coordinating Contractors Work on private property with the property owners. Neither Owner nor Engineer will be responsible for full or partial sets of Bidding Documents, including addenda, if any, obtained from sources other than the Issuing Office. Bids will be accepted only from Plan Holders of Record. In order to be a Plan Holder of Record Bidding Documents must be obtained from the Issuing Office The date that the Bidding Documents are transmitted by the Issuing Office will be considered the Bidders date of receipt of the Bidding Documents. A pre-bid conference will not be held. For all further requirements regarding bid submittal, qualifications, procedures, and contract award, refer to the Instructions to Bidders that are included in the Bidding Documents. The City of Plainwell reserves the right to accept any Bid, reject any or all Bids, to waive informalities, and make the award in any manner deemed in the best interest of the City.
