The CITY OF ONEONTA is seeking professional architecture/engineering design and construction administration/observation services to construct a new 3,500+- square foot building as the central hub for its Oneonta Public Transit bus operation, including a privately-owned and operated intercity bus terminal. The property consists of one parcel located at 2-10 Chestnut Street, Oneonta, NY 13820. The site is 1.8+- acres and is currently occupied by an existing municipal parking garage, including the existing intercity bus terminal. In addition, the City intends to improve the character of Market Street. Located one block from historic Main Street, Market Street has a character completely inconsistent with Oneonta's downtown. Renovations to this street shall be designed to increase pedestrian activity, provide an urban character consistent with Oneonta's downtown, and incentivize development of underutilized properties. The City intends to improve pedestrian connectivity between Main Street and Market Street, in part by establishing a public pedestrian passageway between Muller Plaza, Oneonta's central public space, and Water Street. In addition, an improved pedestrian passageway between Water Street and Market Street will be created, possibly including a boardwalk or conversion of existing vehicular ramp.
