This project provides for the necessary labor, material, equipment and work to install Three (3) completely functional Dynamic Message Sign (DMS) Systems, and furnishing and installation of foundations, structures, power, and communication conduit and wiring. All DMS, controllers and cabinets will be supplied by the Commission. Also included is the Maintenance and Protection of Traffic. Work items include, but are not limited to: 1 EA Install Full Color Matrix DMS Type 1, Centermount with Catwalk 2 EA Install Full Color Matrix DMS Type 2, Type A mount 1,300 LBS Steel S or W Beam Posts (For DMS and static sign Type A mounting) 288 LF Guide Rail 1,349 LF Trench and Backfill, Type 1 6 EA Junction boxes, Various Types 16 CY Class A and Class C Cement Concrete 1,685 LBS Reinforcement Bars The project is located on Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission SR 0043 and SR 0051in the vicinity of Jefferson Hills Township, in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. An electronic bid bond, from an approved vendor, with corporate surety, in the amount of five (5%) percent of the bid must be submitted with the proposal as bid security. The bid security of the three (3) low bidders will be retained until the execution of the contract. (The normal time for execution of the contract is approximately four [4] weeks.) A Prequalification Certification and Applicable Capacity Rating assigned by the Prequalification Office of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is a necessary prerequisite for bidding on this project. The opening and listing of bids not meeting all the terms and conditions of the bid advertisement or bid procedures does not act as a waiver or modification of any requirements contained in the bid advertisement or bid procedure. The Provisions of the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act of August 15, 1961, P.L. 987, as amended, together with the rates and regulations promulgated by the Secretary of Labor and Industry applicable thereto, shall apply to this contract.
