Sodium Hexametaphosphate is a buffering agent to keep carbonate hardness from percipitating from the Water. This will be used at the Water Treatment Plant, 3245 NW Waterworks Drive. The contract covers the time period of July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023. Q And A Open4/20/2022 6:31:00 PM Q And A Close5/16/2022 10:30:00 PM Bids shall be for furnishing 50 tons of Sodium Hexametaphosphate, which shall be packed in 50-pound multi-wall paper bags. It is estimated that two (2) or three (3) shipments will be ordered during the contract period. The quantity listed is an estimated supply only and the City of Topeka Water Division reserves the right to increase or decrease the quantity. CHEMICAL COMPOSITION The material shall be a glassy solid that is soluble sodium phosphate containing Na20 and P205 in a molar ratio of approximately 1.1 Na20 to 1.0 P205. It shall be readily soluble when mixed in proportion of one part of hexametaphosphate, by weight, to four (4) parts of water. The content shall not be less than 60.0% phosphorus pentoxide (P205), 26.2% Phosphorus (P, or 80.4% Phosphate (P04)). The Sodium Hexametaphosphate furnished shall be for use in the treatment of a municipal water supply and shall conform to American Water Works Association (AWWA) Standards as set forth in AWWA B502-11, or latest revision. The product shall be National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) certified as a drinking water additive. The award shall be based on which responsive and responsible vendor supplies the product closest to each item description at the lowest price. The City has the final say as to which products come the closest to the items described. The City of Topeka reserves the right to award the bid to one or more vendors by line item. Bidders are responsible for providing sufficient information to evaluate all items including texture, density, and composition. The award will be made by line. The contract(s) awarded from this bid shall become effective on the date of signature by both parties and shall remain in effect for one (1) year. Prices quoted shall remain firm for the duration of the contract. In addition to indicating the bid for supplying Sodium Hexametaphosphate on the Bid Form furnished with this set of specifications, the bidder shall submit the following: a. Company name b.
