Western Illinois University (WIU) is seeking a firm to provide Architectural and Engineering services to design the renovation of an existing space in Currens Hall to become a new Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on the Western Illinois University Macomb Campus. This will consist of upgrading an existing space to meet State and Federal requirements as well as the needs of the University. The intention is that this is a two-part process. Part one will include a study of the existing space, and an understanding of the needs of the University. This information will be used to develop budgetary construction costs and renderings of the new space for potential fundraising. Upon successful completion of part one, and if the University is satisfied with the performance of the design professional, part two will begin. Part two will consist of the design of the space, and construction administration through final completion. Fees for design services will be negotiated prior to part two beginning. There is a potential that design for construction and construction-administration will be broken into two phases. If this work is broken into two phases, and if the owner is satisfied with the work completed by the design professional during phase one, fees for design services will be negotiated prior to the construction of phase two, provided that no more than three (3) years have passed since the completion of phase one.
