Renovation of a water / sewer project in Portage, Michigan. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
Design, engineering, and construction of an iron and manganese removal plant at the Shuman Well Field. The project will increase the availability of low iron water in the city water system. The Shuman Well Field has a significant amount of water capacity from a different water aquifer compared with other wells on the system, and this project will help increase the reliability of city water supply. The presence of elevated concentrations of iron and manganese in this well can cause taste and odor issues for customers. This project is in included in the City of Portage FY 2025-2031 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of November 19, 2024, information regarding a design firm and the general contractor selection timeline has not been disclosed. A firm construction timeline has not been released. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
