The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary is requesting submission of Proposals from qualified Proponents to provide maintenance services for the Big White Waste Transfer Station. The main waste facility serving the Resort is the Garbage and Recycling Transfer Station located at 4500 Big White Road - approximately 2km from the resort village (55kms from Kelowna). The unstaffed facility is presently open 24/7. The transfer station facility includes the main transfer station building, a storage facility as well as Encorp Express and Go Beverage Collection Unit and services residential and commercial users. The main transfer station building houses two compactor units, with one for recycling and the other for general household waste. Bulky and large items such as mattresses and construction materials are not accepted at the facility. Stewardship materials other than beverage containers are also not to be dropped off at the site. Rather, these materials are to be taken to appropriate recycling and disposal collection facilities in Kelowna.
