Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

A tabulation of bids received will be prepared and shall be presented and acted upon by the Mt Pleasant School Board at a meeting to be held after the Public Hearing at 6:00 P.M. on the 23rd day of May 2022 at the Mt Pleasant Community School District Office at 1010 E. Washington St. Suite 102, Mount Pleasant, Iowa 52641. The kinds and approximate quantities of the major items of work include: 1400 C.Y. of Excavation Class 10 Roadway & Borrow. 550 C.Y. of Modified Subbase. 2940 S.Y. of Engineering Fabric. 3120 S.Y. of PCC Pavement, HMA, Driveway & Sidewalk Removal. 2880 S.Y. of 6 IN. thick fully reinforced PCC Street Paving, Parking & Driveway 2880 S.Y. of 6 IN. thick fully reinforced PCC Street Paving, Parking & Driveway Colored Crosswalk. 260 S.Y. of Sidewalk. P.C. Concrete, 6 IN. 3 EACH of SW-401 Storm Manhole 72" 3 EACH of SW-505 Intake. 1 EACH of 6" Hicken Bottom Intake. 25 L.F. of 6" Storm Sewer. 695 L.F. of 15" Storm Sewer. 285 L.F. of 30" Storm Sewer. 230 L.F. of 36" Storm Sewer. All work is to be done in compliance with the drawings and specifications prepared by Warner Engineering Associates Inc., Mount Pleasant, Iowa which are now on file for public examination at the ENGINEERS office and the Mt Pleasant Community School District Office at 1010 E. Washington St. Suite 102 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Each bid shall be made on a form furnished by the ENGINEER and accompanied by a bidders bond with corporate surety satisfactory to the governing body, a check drawn on and certified by an Iowa bank or a U.S. chartered bank, or a certified share draft drawn on an Iowa credit union, and filed in a sealed envelope separate from the one containing the bid and in an amount at least equal to ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, made payable to the Mt Pleasant Community School District Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and may be cashed by the Mt Pleasant Community School District, Mount Pleasant, Iowa as liquidated damages in the event the successful Bidder fails to enter into a contract within ten (10) days after award of the Contract and post bond satisfactory to the Mt Pleasant Community School District insuring the faithful performance of the Contract. The bid security of the lowest three Bidders may be retained for a period of not to exceed sixty (60) days until a contract is awarded or rejection made. Other bonds or checks shall be returned after a tabulation of bids is completed. Payment to the Contractor for completed work will be made by the Mt Pleasant Community School District; in cash from such funds as may be legally used for said purposes. Payment to the Contractor shall be made on estimates twice monthly equivalent to ninety-five percent (95%) of the Contract value of the work completed during the preceding calendar month. The Contractor shall submit requests for payment for work to Warner Engineering Associates Inc. at least seven (7) days before the first School Board meeting of each month. The Engineer shall forward to the Mt Pleasant Community School Board Secretary for payment each signed estimate before the School Board meeting in question. Payment shall be made to the Contractor by the Mt Pleasant School District within seven (7) days of approval by the School Board. Final payment of the remaining five percent (5%) for work shall be made not less than thirty-one (31) days after completion and acceptance by resolution of the School Board of the completed contract, assuming that no unpaid claims remain on file, and subject to the conditions in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 573 of the Code of Iowa. The successful Bidder shall be required to furnish a Performance and Payment Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract price, said bonds to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the School Board; and shall guarantee faithful performance of the Contract and the terms and conditions therein contained, and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all materials and labor and protect and save harmless the School District from the claims and damages of any kind caused by the operation of the Contractor; and shall guarantee maintenance of the improvements for a period of two (2) years from and after its completion and acceptance by the School Board. A Notice to Proceed shall be issued upon execution of the Agreements by the School District. The Mount Pleasant Community School District Middle School Parking Lot Improvements 2022, for Mount Pleasant Community School District, shall be fully completed on or before November 30, 2022. The Bidder agrees to pay as liquidated damages the sum of $500 for each consecutive calendar day after November 30, 2022, that all work is not fully completed. A contract will be awarded for all the work, to the single successful bidder complying with this Notice and the Instructions to Bidders. The School Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities and irregularities. By virtue of statutory authority, preference shall be given products and provisions grown and coal produced by the State of Iowa and to Iowa domestic labor to the extent lawfully required by Iowa Statutes, providing that the award of the Contract will be to the lowest responsible bidder complying with this Notice and the instructions to Bidders. The Mount Pleasant Community School District reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities and irregularities. Bidders are encouraged to visit the project site at their convenience and can call the Engineers office at 319-385-4180 for any questions they may have.
