BC Parks and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy is seeking tenders from contractors for works related to the upgrade of several trails in the Babine Mountains Provincial Park. The Babine Mountains Provincial Park is 31,146 hectares and offers some of the finest hiking opportunities in west-central British Columbia. Glacier-fed lakes, rugged peaks and extensive sub-alpine meadows provide day and overnight hiking opportunities. The area supports healthy populations of mountain goat, moose, marmot and many species of birds. The Park is visible and easily accessed from the nearby community of Smithers. The trails are as follows: Lyon Creek trail, Silver King trail, and Little Joe trail. Lyon Creek and Silver King trails are accessed on the west side of the Babine Mountains Provincial Park via the Driftwood Road. Little Joe is accessed from the east side via the Babine Lake Road. Trail work includes but is not limited to replacing boardwalks and bridges, installing raised trail tread, ditching, installing culverts, brushing, placing surfacing, replacing trail markers, and building new segments of trail. Both hand and machine based construction is required. Documents can be obtained from www.bcbid.gov.bc.ca.
