All questions must be received by June 8, 2022 for issuing of addendums. All emailed questions and answers will be shared with all responders. The source of the questions will remain anonymous. Addendums will be placed on the Zoo website as they become available: stlzoo.org/vendor. Any oral responses shall be unofficial and not binding on the Zoo. The purpose of this project is to erect all season shade structures designed to cast shade on the shotcrete pads used by animal care staff to feed and work with the sea lions. Two areas are shown, shaded by two shade sail devices labeled Shade "A" and Shade "B." The targeted rock platforms are shown highlighted in sheet C02.230, enlarged site dimension plan - desired shade locations.pdf. The design shall be such that shade is optimized June through August from 12 noon to 2:00 pm. The successful vendor will be required to submit shop drawings sealed by a licensed structural engineer in the state of Missouri. The engineer will identify loads that will need to be considered by the structural engineer employed by the owner to design the footing. Total sum of the project identified in the stipulated sum bid form shall include labor, tools, equipment and design fees to perform all work defined in the bid documents. The shade structures are to be delivered to the site and erected on footings designed and installed by the owner's forces. In Section IV. ALTERNATES of the stipulated sum bid form, provide the amount to deduct Shade "A" in its entirety for Alternate Bid No. 1. Provide the amount to deduct Shade "B" in its entirety for Alternate Bid No. 2. Any submitted proposal shall remain valid and subject to acceptance for ninety (90) days after the proposal due date. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time. As of April 4, 2024, per owner, the zoon has decided to cancel this project.
